The aim of this paper is to propose an approach that South Africa could follow in implementing its proposed cyber security policy. The paper proposes a Cyber Security Awareness Toolkit that is underpinned by key National Security imperatives, as well as by international approaches. This is achieved by drawing on several analysis works derived from international trends and comparing them with key elements of South Africa’s draft cyber security policy. The analysis is then synthesised into sets of policy recommendations, with possible implementation mechanisms suggested in conclusion
