Wool and mohair aqueous scouring wastes are known to be of a highly polluting nature. These cannot be discharged into municipal sewers because municipal authorities have been compelled for ecological reasons to demand a high level of purity in these streams. The aim of this survey is to provide a retrospect of the various processes for the treatment and purification of wool and mohair scouring wastes from 1874 to the present.
