This report is a guide to building strong earth houses that will last a long time but without having to spend a lot of extra money or hire outside experts to do the building. It supports the process of improving the quality of earth housing and showing the benefits of using earth as a building material. This guide grew out of two research projects – one in a rural area and one in an urban area. Both projects were related to people’s housing needs and were carried out during 1988 and 1999.
