This report presents a comparison of the three capacitive matching networks most commonly used with electrically small loop antennas. The three networks are considered as special cases of a universal capacitive matching network which together with the antennas is analysed by means of a desk-top calculator. Graphical plots of the important parameters indicate the simple series tuned circuit to have important advantages. Furthermore, narrowband radio frequency modulation techniques are shown to be desirable since the antenna gain and selectivity increase with antenna Q factor and hence cause a reduction of bandwidth |
