The aim of this paper is to present the dynamic vehicle and tyre load effects for incorporation into the analysis procedure of the development of pavement design and analysis. This is achieved by investigating tyre loads. Fingerprinting of South African vehicles are discussed, followed by a discussion on the results of the simulated tyre loads of various vehicles. Current design loads are compared to the simulated loads, and proposals for incorporation of moving dynamic tyre loads into pavement design are made.
