dc.description 2007: IST Africa Conference en
dc.description.abstract MobilED is an Open source project that aims to develop pedagogically appropriate mobile technology services to enhance formal and informal learning and teaching environments. A first phase of the platform and services were developed and piloted at two schools in South Africa using only voice and SMS technology. Learners and teachers from both schools gave extensive feedback in the form of questionnaires and interviews. This feedback was evaluated and some of it was interpreted as new technology requirements for future platform development. Other feedback raised new issues that should be investigated. That is” What is the influence of mobile voice channels on synthesised voice?” A few practical observations were also made and noted as future recommendations when dealing with similar projects en
