dc.description.abstract The aim of this project was to determine the methane control and dilution ability of the retrofitted hood and half-curtain ventilation systems. The two systems were tested in the full-scale ventilation test gallery at CSIR Miningtek’s Kloppersbos Test Facility. The effect of three variables were investigated during the test series, namely the distance of the force column outlet from the face, the pressure of the water supply to the spray fan system, and the rate of methane release into the test section. The tests were conducted for an identified worst-case scenario under static ventilation conditions. en
