On 1 April 1979, SAWTRI launched a Clothing and Making-up Technology Department and it was therefore considered a worthwhile exercise to compile scientific and technical data and information related to this field since tremendous strides have been made over recent years in extending out knowledge, information and understanding in this area. This report concentrated on matters related to sewing performance (sewability) and sewing threads.
