This presentation was part of the project, "Guidelines for Data Content Standards for Africa", which was initiated by the EROS Data Center of the United States Geological Survey (USGS/EROS) and EIS-Africa, with funding from the United States Agency for International Development (US AID) and the CSIR. This presentation described the characteristics of standards, several standards generating bodies, how African experts can participate in standards development, and the data content standards the project had identified and assessed, particularly for data dictionaries, feature catalogues, classification and feature instances.
